Teen fined after Brunel ‘clown’ incident
A teenager arrested in connection with sightings of a “killer clown” at Brunel University in Uxbridge has been fined.
The 19-year-old has been ordered to pay a £90 fine after being handed a penalty notice for disorder.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence after reports that between 7.30pm on Saturday (October 8) and 1.30am on Sunday (October 9), someone dressed as a clown was deliberately frightening people at Brunel University in Uxbridge .
At the time of the incident, Brunel University security operations manager, Terry Vass, said: “We take such incidents and our students’ safety extremely seriously.
“Brunel’s campus is patrolled by security teams 24 hours a day and is monitored by more than 400 CCTV cameras”
Earlier this month, the Met Police made a number of arrests following reports of “killer clown” sightings.
One man from Hayes has been charged with a public order offence after residents in Hayes reported a person wearing a clown mask and carrying suspected firearm.
52-year-old George Steven Williams of Woodstock Gardens, Hayes, is due to appear in court in mid-November.
At the time of the a CCTV: “killer clown” incidents, commander Julian Bennett urged people to act responsibly in the run up to Halloween.
He said: “Whilst we do not want to stop people from enjoying themselves it is important that while having fun they remember to act in a responsible manner and understand that they could be prosecuted if a criminal offence is committed.”
