Knocked out man’s teeth

A CLUBBER who punched a man in the head and knocked out his teeth in an unprovoked attack has been banned from all London pubs and clubs following a violent brawl in Westminste­r .

Richard Bowman from Malthus Path, Greenwich, has been banned from entering any London pubs or clubs for 18 months after hitting the victim so hard, he fell to the floor.

On October 18 2014, a 21-year-old man was attacked inside the Salvador and Amanda club on Great Newport Street in Westminste­r at 2am.

A Metropolit­an Police spokesman said: “Following an altercatio­n at 2am, in an unprovoked attack, the victim was punched in the head with such force that he was knocked to the ground.”

London Ambulance services attended and took the injured man to a central London hospital and he was later discharged. He lost two teeth as a result of the brutal attack.

On June 19, 2015, an TJG1ST appeal was made on BBC Crimewatch Roadshow to trace a man police wished to identify in connection with the incident, leading to Bowman’s identifica­tion.

Detective Constable Stuart Green, from Westminste­r Criminal Investigat­ion Department, said: “This was a cowardly unprovoked assault.

“The offender punched the victim to the ground with brutal force.

“I would like to commend the victim’s determinat­ion to seek justice, and to the BBC Crimewatch team for all their assistance.

“I would also like to thank the public for their assistance in identifyin­g Bowman which has led to him being brought to justice.”

The 28-year-old was given nine months imprisonme­nt, suspended for two years ,and ordered to pay the victim £3,500 compensati­on after being sentenced for assault occasionin­g actual bodily harm.

Southwark Crown Court ordered he attend a programme to get help for alcohol-related issues when he was sentenced on Tuesday October 12.

He was found guilty on Wednesday 14 September of assault occasionin­g actual bodily harm.
