Upgraded facilities allow team to move back home

DENHAM United Ladies FC officially ended their three-year exile when they unveiled their brand new changing room pavilion at The Den last Thursday.

When they first team got promoted into the Women’s Premier SE Division One three years ago, one of the requirements was to have a certain standard of facilities. Now, after three years of playing at Hillingdon Borough’s stadium, they are finally able to play home games back at The Den.

The project was made possible thanks to a £100,000 grant from the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund, plus £72,000 from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and assistance from Denham Parish Council.

The new facility will be used throughout the Denham community, including by Wycombe College for PE lessons.

Club secretary Joanne Currivan said: “We would like to thank the Middlesex FA and Denham Parish Council for their help and support in securing the grants. This new facility will help us to attract and retain more players, which will then help improve grassroots sport in the area.”

The first team celebrated their new surroundings by beating Luton Town Ladies 1-0 at The Den on Sunday, Alissa Downs scoring the only goal with a well taken free kick, while the reserves came back from a trip to C&K Basildon with a hard-earned point following a goalless draw.

The U15s and U14s were both in seventh heaven, enjoying 7-0 wins. An Alisha Bajwa hat-trick, plus a brace from Courtney Woolley and further goals for Naomi Hickey and Niamh Reynolds, saw the U15s down Bishops Stortford, while Melissa Asavoaie and Merreisha Waul both bagged trebles in the U14s’ hammering of Bengeo Tigers, with Maddie Kirkby also on target.

Millie Congerton was another hat-trick hero as the U12s won 4-1 at Berkhamsted Raiders, where Jess Weatherson also netted, to go top of the league, while the U16s were able to put their feet up after opponents Rushmoor Saints were unable to field a side in their League Cup tie.

There were also wins for both U11s sides, the Pumas beating Larkspur Rovers and the Wildcats seeing off Kempton Park. Evie Perkis, Phoebe Smith, Jess Poulton, Maisie Swan, Chloe Hagger, Ruby Brown, Beckie Currivan and Lucie Barrett scored for the Pumas, as did Madison Perry, Paige Hoile, Ruby McCulloch, Beckie Currivan, Amna Butt and Ellie Trigg for the Wildcats.
