A-LIST actress Emma Watson has been leaving copies of books on the London Underground as she continues to champion equal rights through her new book club.

First acting, then modelling, followed by championing feminism, the former Harry Potter star is no stranger when it comes to speaking up for causes she believes in.

And now the launch of her new book club, Our Shared Self, has led the 26-year-old, famous for playing Hermione in the movie adaptations of the JK Rowling novels, to hide copies of Maya Angelou’s inspiring autobiographical work Mom & Me & Mom at different stations around London this week.

Sneaking around the capital’s transport network as part of the Books on the Underground campaign, she left the late author’s text for Londoners to enjoy.

Books the Underground director, Cordelia Oxley, said: “The campaign with Emma Watson is perfect as it promotes her feminist book club Our Shared Shelf, and also reminds people to look around for a hidden book when they’re on the Tube.”

Watson, who is also the UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, was delighted to be the “book fairy”, according on to her Facebook post about the endeavours.

Watson – who is soon to be appearing in a liveaction film adaption of Beauty and the Beast – wrote: “I’ve been hiding copies of Mom & Me & Mom for Books on the Underground on the tube all day – see if you can find one.”

Beauty and the Beast is released in the UK in March.
