LUCKY young Uxbridge artists are being given the opportunity to have their creations displayed in the foyer of a new office block in the town centre.

Aviva Investors is running the competition for Uxbridge College students to highlight their talents at the building in Belmont Road, which will be completed in the new year.

The winning piece will be displayed on the way in to the building and entries range from small A4 works to much bigger projects, including paintings, prints, and photographic work.

Art and design lecturer at the college Victoria Cohen said: “It is a really DESIGNS: fantastic opportunity for our students and Uxbridge College.

“We are delighted to be approached by Aviva Investors with this live commission brief to create contemporary artwork for a corporate TJG1ST setting.”

The theme for the competition is ‘ London Living’ and students have been making trips to central London for inspiration.

When it is finished, the £30million renovation of the office block will have taken a total of 18 months to complete.

Asset manager at Aviva Julian Cobourne said: “We are very much looking forward to viewing the entries in January and for the winning exhibits to be displayed at Belmont, once the building is completed in January.

“Uxbridge College’s art department has a brilliant reputation for encouraging and nurturing local talent and we are excited that the theme of ‘London Living’ will inspire students to produce some interesting and thought provoking work.”

The winner will be announced in the new year.
