Smith hits four as club run riot with 9-1 win

-

ADAM Smith proved the sharp- shooter as Sandgate under-13s Arrows repeatedly found the target in their drubbing of TFA Totteridge on Sunday.

Smith bagged a four-timer in a 9-1 rout in which Jesse Nyarko and Archie Chapman both claimed doubles and Godfrey Owusu was the other youngster on target.

Leo Stephens was another to pack his shooting boots, laying claim to the match ball after his hat-trick helped the U11s despatch Ewell Saxons 6-2. Hadi Noor weighed in with a brace and there was one for Isaac Olum.

The youngest team in the club, the U7s, went one better as they hit seven without reply against Rocks Lane Reds.

Abbie McKenzie led the way with a four-timer, while Frankie Buckland, Malik El-Ghaidani and Harrison Shepherd also found the target in the team’s best performance of the season so far.

The U10 Colts produced the comeback of the day as they overcame Hampton Rangers Juniors in a 4-2 win.

Trailing 2-0 in the first half, they first clawed their way level before pulling clear thanks to doubles from Nabil Mezali and Halil Plisi.

The U8s were the other winners this week, beating NPL Protons 3-1. They too had a hat-trick hero, in the shape of Ollie Hunt, whose goals were in part down to the mesmerising trickery of teammate Charlie Side.

The U16s also had a hat-trick man, Valentino Buonanno as they shared a 6-6 draw with SCR Colts Yellows. Others on the scoresheet for Sandgate in the gripping goalfest were Jay Downing, Mohammed Ali and Taylor McGaw.

Three sides shared the league points this week, with Chay Hudson, Stanley Callier and Jasiah Mathurin on the mark for the U9s as they shared six with Carshalton Athletic.

The U13 Blades’ 2-2 draw with Barnes eagles Colts came courtesy of strikes from Jake Oatway and Okash Islow and there was a point apiece too for the U12s, who drew 1-1 with Raynes Park Vale thanks to Patrick Doherty’s goal and a man of the match display from Seth Gallagher.

Both Sandgate sides who saw Surrey League Cup action bowed out, the U15s heroically so, going down 3-2 to SCR Colts, a side from two leagues above them. Goals from Luke O’Toole and Tyler Bunn kept them in contention right up to the final whistle.

In the other tie, Hubert Ademek’s goal was just a consolation for the U15s as they went down 4-1 to Kingstonians.
