LADY THRILLER: Pop star sings at Westfield shopping centre
FRESH from the launch of her hit album Joanne, Lady Gaga surprised Londoners with an intimate festive performance in a giant snow globe on the rooftop of Westfield London on Thursday.
Beneath the stars and surrounded by spectacular views across the capital, the global superstar stripped things back to showcase her vocals with an acoustic piano performance atop what will soon be the largest shopping centre in Europe.
On a revolving stage, Lady Gaga performed an unplugged version of her new single, Million Reasons, from her new studio album, as guests got up close to their heroine inside the specially constructed globe.
The exclusive set also included performances of Bad Romance and Joanne, making the lucky attendees the first UK audience to hear her new songs live.
Westfield London’s lit-up skyline provided a breath-taking backdrop to the once-in-a-lifetime event.
A giant festive message to London from Gaga was projected on the centre’s rooftop to mark the event and celebrate the start of the holiday season.
Lady Gaga said: “I love my London and UK fans so much, and performing my new music for them in such an intimate and spectacular location was the perfect way to celebrate the holidays.”
Westfield’s chief marketing officer Myf Ryan said: “As such a prominent musician and style icon, constantly innovating and pushing boundaries, it was an absolute joy to welcome Lady Gaga to celebrate the holiday season with a lucky group of our customers in an extra-special way.”
The lucky fans and shoppers in attendance won the chance to attend the performance through a Facebook competition on Monday run by Westfield London.
An additional 100 fans were also able to watch the performance via live-stream, in a Vue Cinema screen at the centre, and meet their heroine.
