RALLYING CRY TO HELP CANCER-STRICKEN DAD
FAMILY IS RAISING FUND TO SEND DAD FOR SPECIALIST CANCER TREATMENT IN HOPE OF PROLONGING HIS LIFE
A HILLINGDON family has launched a fundraising attempt to give a father-of-three treatment they hope will prolong his life. Alan Rose, aged 46, was told he had a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer in June 2016. The father-of-three underwent chemotherapy at Mount Vernon Hospital, but his family were left heartbroken when doctors told him the cancer had spread to his brain. He was then taken to a hospice in December, when his family say doctors gave him little hope of surviving past Christmas. After beginning steroid treatment, Mr Rose has since been able to spend time with loved ones including his children, aged six, 13 and 25.
According to his family, he was placed into palliative care on Tuesday, April 18 because doctors say further treatment would be ineffective.
Wife Petrina Rose, who met her husband at Uxbridge Swimming Pool, now called Hillingdon Sport and Leisure Complex, 30 years ago, wants Mr Rose to undergo treatment abroad.
Mrs Rose, who has launched a fundraising page , said: “He has got the heart of a lion.
“He’s the strongest man I have ever met and he just really, desperately wants to keep going.
“Our kids want him to keep going, he’s worked hard all his life and we need him.”
In a desperate attempt to find alternative options, Mrs Rose researched and believes a clinic in Germany could offer hope.
The 47-year-old claims treatment at the clinic, called the Hallwang Clinic, would cost £150,000 with the fundraising efforts raising £5,667 so far.
According to Mrs Rose, the Hallwang Clinic has told her it may be able to place her husband in remission following treatment.
Georgina Smith, girlfriend of Alan’s son Jake, said: “He is very caring, friendly and he’s an animal lover. He’s a lovely person. He would do anything for you.”
