CRIMESTOPPERS is offering a £10,000 reward to help solve the murder of a man viciously beaten in Hayes, so his family can gain ‘peace’ over his devastating death – months after the attack.

The independent crime charity is offering up to £10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Satnam Singh.

Satnam, 45, was attacked in Atlee Road, near the junction with Ayles Road, on Monday, March 6, at around 10pm.

He was walking with a friend when a male, who was speaking on a mobile phone, started following the pair, according to a witness.

A silver car then drove up Ayles Road and a man, described as being white, got out and attacked Satnam and his friend with a baseball bat - before fleeing the scene in the car.

Satnam was taken to hospital for treatment but his condition has deteriorated and on Tuesday last week, (May 23) he died from his injuries.

Detective Inspector Jon Meager, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: “Sadly what was being treated as an attempted murder investigation is now a murder investigation.

“Satnam was viciously attacked nearly three months ago and had remained in hospital with his family hardly leaving his side.

“His loved ones have been left completely devastated by his death.

“While there is no evidence at this time to suggest a racial motivation, officers retain an open mind as to the reason for the attack.

“I am convinced that the answer lies within the local community.”

The reward is applicable only for information passed directly to Crimestoppers rather than the police.

Satnam’s uncle, Jasbinder Singh Siekham, spoke of his family’s grief: “Satnam was my nephew, he was also my friend.

“Satnam’s wife simply cannot understand what’s happened and I’m struggling to comfort her.

“The whole family is devastated by this terrible attack. We all need to understand why this has happened and who has done it. We need to find peace.”

A post-mortem examination took place on May 25 at Uxbridge Mortu- ary. It gave the cause of death as bronchial pneumonia and a head injury.

Satnam’s friend, a 28-year-old man, was not seriously injured.

There have so far been no arrests, but police enquires continue.

DI Meager added: “Satnam had been walking along Atlee Road with his friend prior to the attack - were you in the area?

“Did you witness any altercation or dispute between the pair and the man who a witness saw following them?

“A substantial reward is being offered for information that leads to a conviction of those responsible and I would urge anyone who knows who is responsible to contact police or Crimestoppers.”
