IT’S a big thumbs up to Waitrose af­ter its Com­mu­nity Mat­ters scheme do­na­tion helped to fund the pur­chase of a new van for the Michael Sobell Hospice ware­house col­lec­tions ser­vice.

The hospice has sent out a thank you to the en­tire team and cus­tomers of Waitrose in North­wood, Har­row Weald, Rick­mansworth and Ruis­lip af­ter nearly £2,000 was do­nated to the ap­peal.

Com­ment­ing on the fund­ing, Lind­sey Fealey, chief ex­ec­u­tive at MSHC said: “We’re ab­so­lutely de­lighted with our new van in cel­e­bra­tion of our 40th an­niver­sary year.

“On be­half of ev­ery­one in­volved with Michael Sobell Hospice and Michael Sobell Hospice Char­ity, we would like to say a very big thank you to Breda Fitzger­ald, the Waitrose team, and all the cus­tomers who voted for the Hospice with their green to­ken, as well as SMC Ford Cars in Uxbridge for your con­tin­ued sup­port.”

The Char­ity’s Hare­field-based ware­house col­lec­tion ser­vice, runs on Mon­day, Tues­day and Thurs­day each week, and is avail­able for those larger dona­tions too big to bag up and drop in to Michael Sobell Hospice Char­ity shops in North­wood, East­cote and Ruis­lip on foot.

Michael Sobell Hospice is cel­e­brat­ing 40 years of pro­vid­ing lo­cal hospice care and sup­port, to pa­tients and their fam­i­lies fac­ing life-lim­it­ing ill­ness. MSHC needs to raise over £1.6 mil­lion each year to en­sure the con­tin­ued fund­ing of vi­tal ser­vices in­clud­ing a 16-bed­ded In- Pa­tient Unit, Pa­tient & Fam­ily Sup­port (PAFS) ser­vice
