CULTURE BITE FESTIVAL RETURNS
SIX WEEK ART FESTIVAL TO FEATURE DRAMA, ARTS, CRAFTS AND WRITING
CULTURE Bite – Hillingdon council’s annual festival of literature, arts and culture – will return from Saturday September 16, offering a wide variety of free and paid events to suit all tastes.
Running until the end of October, the six week programme will feature talks from bestselling authors, drama, arts, crafts and creative writing.
The events will be held at a range of venues across the borough, including libraries, theatres and parks.
The festival launch, timed to coincide with the Manor Farm History Weekend on September 16 and 17, will feature a special talk from international crime writer Michael Jecks whose books are based on real events and murders from medieval times.
Michael’s talk, Medieval Mysteries, will take place in The Great Barn on Sunday September 17 from 7.30pm. Other highlights will include an evening with award-winning author Jeanette Winterson OBE at the Compass Theatre on Wednesday October 11, and the Girls On Tour Afternoon Tea at Haste Hill Golf Club on September 30, which will give book fans the chance to share cakes, sandwiches and a glass of bubbly with five fabulous female writers.
Harry Potter lovers are also in for a treat as Culture Bite celebrates 20 magical years of the young wizard. On Friday October 25, from 10am to 4pm, The Great Barn at Manor Farm will be transformed into Hogwart’s famous Great Hall and visitors will get the chance to meet special guests professors, learn new magical skills and test their Harry Potter knowledge. The free event will end with a special screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Councillor Richard Lewis, Cabinet Member for Central Services, Culture and Heritage Heritage, said: “I’m delighted to announce the return of Culture Bite, which, due to popular demand, we’ve extended and spread out over six weeks this year, rather than the usual four.
“There is so much to offer culture lovers, from literary, musical and art events, to children’s activities and educational sessions.
