STONES TAKE SHOTS STRIKER OKOJIE ON LOAN
IT HAS been one in, one out for Wealdstone FC this week when it comes to the club’s striking options.
The Stones have agreed a deal with National League outfit Aldershot Town to take striker Shaun Okojie on a 28-day loan.
The 6ft 3in striker signed for the Shots last summer, having joined from Corinthian-Casuals.
The 21-year-old was prolific for Casuals, scoring 40 goals in 39 starts as they reached the 2017 Ryman League Division One South play-off final, having scored 17 in just 20 starts in 2015-16.
Okojie has previously had trials at Chesterfield and Blackpool, and attracted interest from 14 Football League clubs – including Premier League West Bromwich Albion – before deciding to join Aldershot.
Also this week, Elliot Benyon has left Wealdstone on loan, joining Bostik League Premier Division side Enfield Town for 28 days.
Benyon, who is recovering from injury, has had limited playing time for the Stones so far this campaign and it is hoped the loan arrangement will give him increased game time to regain full fitness.
Wealdstone were without a game on Saturday and were due to play Hayes & Yeading in the Middlesex Senior Cup last night (Tuesday).
The Stones are back in league action at the weekend when the recently crowned National League South manager of the month for October, the Stones’ Bobby Wilkinson, welcomes his old side Hungerford Town to The Vale on Satur- day.
Wealdstone will remember the servicemen and women killed in the two World Wars and conflicts around the world with a pre-match wreath- laying ceremony at the game, with a bugler p l ay i ng the Last Post as the two sides observe a min- ute ’s silence.
