Petition to save Jurassic Perk

-

A PETITION has been launched to “save” a dinosaur themed soft play cafe facing potential closure by Hillingdon Council.

Jurassic Perk Cafe opened in High Street, Ruislip, in August with a party room, sensory room and cafe area.

But, according to the council it did so without the necessary planning permission - the owners must now submit an application for consideration.

The petitioners have gathered more than 1,400 online signatures of the 2,000 signature target since launching their campaign on November 21. The petition says: “Please sign this petition and help stop Hillingdon Council trying to close down the new soft play in Ruislip. The new Jurassic Perk Cafe is a fantastic new play area for children of all ages. It has a disco floor, baby sensory room and a soft play area.

“It is a safe environment for children and a great place for families to meet and make friends.

“There is nothing like this around Hillingdon for parents to take children. Please sign and help to save such a brilliant place which is greatly needed.”

Hillingdon Council responded to a Facebook post on its page, saying the cafe did not have the appropriate planning permission in place for its business. Responding to a resident’s post, the council said: “We understand you really like Jurassic Perk but unfortunately they do not currently have the planning consent required for the company they are operating.

“We have asked the owners to submit an application for change of use and await this from them. It will then be considered.”

Many people who have signed the petition to “save Jurassic Perk Cafe”, have left comments expressing support for the soft play area. One supporter commented: “Why take something fun away from Ruislip and the kids?” while another said “It’s a wonderful place for small ones. And would be a huge loss if it went”. The Gazette has approached the owners of Jurassic Perk Cafe for comment.
