DE SALIS STUDIO COLLEGE

-

Did you know that there is a new secondary school, rated outstanding by Ofsted which opened without fanfare in 2014 and has blazed its way to becoming one of the top schools in Hillingdon? De Salis offers a unique range of learning programmes for young people aged 13 to 18 who are particularly interested in business, computing, law and the sciences.

It is in beautiful new premises in the Hewens Rd, just off the Uxbridge Road and conveniently near the U7, H98, 607 and 195 bus stops.

De Salis College is a studio school. What is a studio school? It is an important initiative by the government designed to combine the best academic education with the best employability skills in this age of technology. De Salis does this by combining outstanding academic teaching with opportunities for young people to link with the business world. Strong employer links provide quality work placements for all students from the age of 14 so young people can build up CVs so critical for university or for apprenticeships. De Salis also boasts strong links with universities. Outstanding pastoral care helps students make the right choices for their future. Students benefit from the luxury of small classes which so few schools are able to offer these days!

The College specialises in teaching GCSEs, A Levels and some Level 3 BTEC subjects and achieves outstanding outcomes for its young people; for example in 2017, 92% obtained mathematics GCSE, 100% their English GCSE and 100% science GCSE; an excellent achievement for the students and their dedicated teachers!

Optional subjects for students in Years 9 and 10 include criminology at AS Level, or GCSEs in any of the following; psychology, economics, computer science as well as more traditional subjects like geography and French. Language teaching is also a particular strength. All students certify in financial education and the highly valued Microsoft Office qualification.

Business is one of the most popular subjects for students to study at universities in the UK and De Salis recognises this. So, business teaching is at the heart of what De Salis does, with all students studying business GCSE, finance and, computer science or IT, together with the traditional core subjects of English, maths and science. De Salis students are encouraged to become the entrepreneurs of the future.

Enrichment activities are also exceptional. A 14 year old De Salis student won the prestigious award from the Institute of Fiscal Studies of Young Financial Journalist of the Year last year! At De Salis you might see students preparing for a national robotics challenge or taking part in a stock market competition.

The superb De Salis facilities with state of the art computing suites, new science labs, law court and its own retail centre provides an inspiring and unique setting for this unusual secondary school.

So, if you have a young person in your family who is in Years 8 or 9 who wants a first class education, not only in traditional subjects of English, maths, sciences, business, computer science - but with an exciting choice of option subjects and professional qualifications, De Salis Studio College could be just what they are looking for!

De Salis Studio College is sponsored by the well-established and successful Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust. You need to move quickly for this academic year. De Salis Studio College only has limited places to offer and there are only 60 places for a whole year group.
