Community rallies to help Maxine

UXBRIDGE AND WEST DRAYTON VENUES RAISE FUNDS FOR WOMAN GIVEN MONTHS TO LIVE

-

THE COMMUNITIES of Uxbridge and West Drayton rallied together to help raise funds for woman who has been given just months to live.

Erhan Sahin, landlord of The 3 Steps in Uxbridge Cowley organised for several venues in the area to collect donations in charity boxes and held a fundraising day, complete with a raffle.

The fundraising was in aid of local resident Maxine Sadler who was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year.

Mr Sahin said: “Maxine moved to America in August 2017 to marry the love of her life Anthony. In October Maxine became poorly and after test and scans was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

“Chemo did not work and because of the speed of this cruel disease they had no time to arrange medical insurance (a costly financial burden).

“The treatment did not work and it’s only time before goodbyes. Anthony (Maxine’s partner) has been paying for Maxine’s treatment. This event was put into place in order to support Maxine and Anthony in Maxine’s final days.

“We had a lot of support from the local business. Such as Liquid night club, Slug and Lettuce, Wheelans, Bar Italia, The Malt Shovel, The Railway, George and Dragon, the Music Box, The Angel, The Five Bells, Strands Hairdresser, Del Boy Barbershop, Sheeshmahal, Bells Beauty, Perfect Whites and B&A motors. All donated a prize for the raffle and had a fundraising box in their venues

“We managed to raise £1102.76 thanks to the fantastic support of our community. It was really great to see everyone come together for such a great cause.”
