DOG AGILITY TEAM TAKE TOP PRIZE AT CRUFTS

-

TALES were wagging among the Whirlwind Platinums when they took part in the world’s greatest dog show.

The team took home rosettes and awards after winning the Kennel Club Team Agility medium dog final at Crufts.

The team of four dogs and handlers, who train at Whirlwind Agility Club in Stokes Poges, Buckinghamshire, beat off competition from top agility teams around the UK in the hotly contested final at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts. Finalists in the medium dog Kennel Club Team Agility competition had previously qualified at heats throughout 2017.

The winning team consisted of border collie Ting with owner Mike Fairlamb from Ruislip; Shetland sheepdog/border collie cross Tico with owner Jilly Sayer from Preston; cocker spaniel Rosie and her owner Caroline Green from Marlow; chihuahua/pug cross Luna-Jo with her owner Stephanie Spezia from the USA.

Team captain Sue White also from Ruislip, who runs the club, said: “We are delighted to win, absolutely over the moon. We are all really good friends so we’ll go out to celebrate with a meal and a few drinks.

“The dogs are really good friends too, so we’ll go on a nice walk as well. Stephanie travelled from the USA to compete with us. It’s probably the most expensive dog run she’s ever done!”

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Very well done to the Whirlwind Platinums on their fantastic Crufts win. All the dogs and their handlers performed to a very high standard and demonstrated fantastic team work – we hope they celebrate in style.”

Crufts took place from March 8 tp 11 at the NEC, Birmingham.
