ARTS IN ACTION IS BACK IN HILLINGDON

IT’S music to the ears of culture lovers – and those who want to make their summer a little richer.

Hillingdon Council’s annual Arts in Action festival will return to venues across Hillingdon from June 20 to July 15, offering events and activities for all residents to enjoy.

The month-long celebratio­n of the arts is organised in partnershi­p with Hillingdon

Arts Associatio­n, which promotes local artistic societies to encourage more residents to join in with the borough’s arts scene.

The festival’s programme of events includes art exhibition­s and workshops, a craft market, tribute acts, orchestral and choral concerts, talks about art and history, and a folk concert. Theatrical events on offer include a free outdoor circus (Sur Mesure Fillage, see Hotlist on page 2, the Teletubbie­s show, a play marking the end of World War One, and performanc­es from young drama students inspired by women’s right to vote. Councillor Richard Lewis, Cabinet Member for Central Services, Culture and Heritage, said: “We have a multitude of societies offering artistic programmes and our Arts in Action festival is a great opportunit­y for everyone to enjoy the array of arts and culture on offer.

“The season provides a chance for local art groups to share their talents with the wider community, Many of the events are free and get booked up quickly – so I’d encourage residents to book in advance. We hope to see you there!”
