FORMER BARN SALE IS A SISTER ACT

-

Actress Judy Parfitt is best known for her starring role in the hugely popular BBC TV drama Call the Midwife which has recently completed its seventh series and was watched by nearly 10 million each Sunday night.

In some 50 episodes Parfitt plays Sister Monica Joan, pictured, a forthright elderly nun suffering from earlystage dementia, but many viewers won’t know about her hugely successful 64-year-long career on stage and TV and in film.

BAFTA-nominated several times she has acted alongside Laurence Olivier, Stephen Fry, Vanessa Redgrave and her TV and film work has included roles in 2003’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, several episodes of ER and a feature-length episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot in the 2004 edition of Death on the Nile.

In 1963 she married actor Tony Steedman and in 1999 the couple bought a pretty three-bedroom barn conversion in the Sussex countryside near Hassocks.

Steedman suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for some time and died in 2001 from complications arising from the condition. His final role was in the 1998 film Mrs Dalloway.

Their former home is now for sale.

It’s a barn that has been converted with almost all its main rooms on the ground floor or on raised mezzanine levels including a huge central lounge, three bedrooms, a kitchen, several bathrooms and a utility room.

■ THE property is for sale with agent Richwards (01273 495333) for £1.15m.
