MAKING A RHOD FOR HIS OWN BACK
COMEDIAN Rhod Gilbert is to tour the UK next year with his new show The Book Of John.
Rhod, right, says he gave up comedy for six years after losing his enthusiasm for stand-up, but adds that the forthcoming tour will be his most personal one yet after opening up about his anxiety problems in a BBC documentary special. He says: I did stand-up for 10 years then I didn’t do a gig for six years because I was bored. I didn’t feel inspired to do stand-up anymore. Suddenly I’ve got stuff to talk about again.”

SAM’S IN-TRAINING FOR NEW ROLE
SAMANTHA WOMACK is to star in the UK and Ireland tour of The Girl On The Train, based on the gripping book by Paul Hawkins, which became a movie starring Emily Blunt.
Samantha, plays commuter Rachel, the ‘girl’ of the title, who believes she has witnessed a crime from her carriage window, says: “Having been thoroughly captivated by the novel, the opportunity to take on a role like this is incredibly exciting.”
The tour begins on January 21 next year.

ERIC IDLE, inset, says there will be no live shows to mark the 50th anniversary of Monty Python next year. The 75-yearold said the group’s 2014 02 reunion dates were their goodbye performances to fans. He said: “It was a classy way to say goodbye. It’s not often you get a chance to do a farewell and say thank you very much. It was just in time because Jonesy (Terry Jones) is going memory wise.
“It was touching and a nice thing to do.”
