Two road rage stabbings
TWO DRIVERS ATTACKED WITHIN HOURS – ONE IN WEST DRAYTON, ONE IN CHESHUNT
THERE were two shocking road rage attacks within hours of each other which left victims in hospital with serious injures.
In the latest brutal attack a 38-year-old man was smashed over the head and legs with a hammer by another driver in West Drayton .
It was reported on social media that it was a sledge hammer that was used. The attacker has not been caught.
The horrific injuries were caused on Swan Road at 5pm on Thursday.
It is not known what caused the sudden act of violence.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but his injuries are not lifethreatening, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
A spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of an assault.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended.
“A 38-year-old man was found who had suffered injuries to his legs and head. The man was taken to hospital.
“It was reported that he had been assaulted with a hammer by another driver. His injuries have been assessed as non lifethreatening or life-changing.”
This follows a separate road rage attack where a lorry driver in his 70s was stabbed in Cheshunt.
The victim “was still sitting in the driver’s seat” of the lorry as he was stabbed multiple times just before noon on Thursday February 7 in Delamare Road.
This attack may have been sparked over a simple road dispute. A Facebook post by a colleague of the injured man claims the dispute started over a clipped wing mirror before rapidly escalating.
Hertfordshire Police said the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage and a search continues for the other man who escaped in a blue Volkswagen Golf towards Cadmore Lane.
Anyone who witnessed the West Drayton attack, or anyone with any information, is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 5588/07feb.
