RECORD BREAKER GETS ROYAL RECOGNITION
HULA HOOPING PRODIGY RECEIVES CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE QUEEN
SHE’S set a world record last summer and now she’s had a letter from the queen from the Queen.
Kaashni Sivendran, a pupil at Brookside Primary School, has received Royal and VIP recognition for her outstanding Guinness Book of World Records achievement.
Kaashni secured her place in the Guinness Book of World Records by completing the most revolutions hula hooping (a total of 617) in three minutes in July, when she was in year three at the school.
She had previously learnt about famous British people in class and was immediately inspired to find her own fame as a World Record Holder.
Once Kaashni knew what she wanted to do, she practised consistently until she had perfected her skill and speed and was ready for the challenge of becoming the Guinness World Record Holder.
The Mayor of Hillingdon, councillor John Morgan, initially presented Kaashni with an award at a special school assembly and commended her for her hard work and determination. Kaashni then received a letter from the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.
In his letter to her Mr Khan stated: “I am writing to offer you my congratulations as London’s newest record holder. This is a fantastic achievement. I understand that you were inspired to go for your world record after learning about famous British people in your school.
“I hope that your own achievements will inspire you again – and show what you can accomplish if you work hard and always try your best.”
Kaashni then decided to write to Her Majesty The Queen about her achievement and sent her a picture.
To Kaashni’s absolute delight, on Tuesday, January 22, she received a congratulatory reply from The Queen, which was conveyed in a letter from Her Majesty’s Lady-in-Waiting, The Honourable Miss Mary Morrison.
The opening paragraphs of the letter read: “The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for your letter, with the splendid picture you have made, from which Her Majesty was interested to learn about your love of hula hooping. The Queen thought it was kind of you to write to her, and Her Majesty was pleased to hear of your success as a Guinness World Record Holder.”
This was not the only surprise in store for Kaashni, on January 22, The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust were hosts that day to some very important officials from the Education Ministry of the Cayman Islands, once they heard of Kaashni’s achievement, they personally congratulated her.
Kaashni’s outstanding achievement is a great example to children and adults alike, that whatever you put your mind to you can achieve – but it takes hard work and determination.
Kaashni will attempt another World Record in April this year for most hula hoops around her knees. Her brother Kavish, will also attempt a Guinness World Record for the most jumping jacks in three minutes.
The school says it wishes both pupils every success in their future endeavours.
