Hotspots for robbery in Ealing

STARTLING figures show more than 1,100 people were mugged or robbed in Ealing in 2019.

According to figures published by the Metropolit­an Police at www.police.uk, a total of 1,148 people reported being a victim of robbery between the start of January and end of December.

The statistics, which are published on the website every month, show where all of the robberies happened last year.

Data shows more robberies were committed in Ealing Broadway, East Acton and Southall Broadway than anywhere else in the borough.

Areas which had the least amount of victims include Dormers Wells, Northfield and North Greenford.

5) Southall Green – 63

Coming in at fifth on the list is Southall Green, where 63 people reported to police that they had been robbed during 2019.

Out of all crimes committed in Southall Green last year, robbery amounted to 3.41 per cent.

4) Greenford Broadway – 67

Greenford Broadway, which is the seventh most dangerous place to live in Ealing according to crime stats, comes in at a close fourth for robbery/mugging.

Robbery was a crime which wasn’t committed regularly when compared to other crime rates. Crimes such as anti-social behaviour, burglary and violence and sexual offences made up most of the crimes reported.

3) Southall Broadway - 118

In Southall Broadway, there were nearly double the amount of robberies committed in Greenford Broadway.

There were more robberies committed in June (10) than in any other month, while three robberies occurred in September.

2) East Acton – 120

Data shows that 120 residents reported being a victim of robbery in East Acton in 2019.

Robbery amounted to 3.41 per cent of all crimes committed, while 14 victims came forward to police in March, which is more than any other month.

1) Ealing Broadway – 137

Perhaps no surprise due to its location in the town centre, Ealing Broadway comes top of the list.

There were 137 robberies in the ward throughout 2019.

Despite the high number, robbery only amounted to 4.31 per cent of all crimes committed in Ealing Broadway in 2019.
