THE ENEMY WITHIN PARASITE Sky Store and all major streaming services

■ Bong Joon-ho’s brilliant thriller deserved its impressive Oscar haul earlier this year and now you can see why it was so highly praised by critics as it comes to the small screen. A poor Korean family make the most of a lucky break to infiltrate their way into a rich household, initially through the son becoming an English tutor. But as their elaborate deceptions grow ever more intricate, the strain starts to tell and more secrets are unearthed. Taut and full of twists and turns, Parasite will keep you guessing but also make you ponder society’s shocking inequalities.

LOOK TO THE SKIES THE VAST OF NIGHT Amazon Prime

■ Andrew Patterson’s debut feature film is a stylish and inventive take on a well-worn subject, the possibility that extraterrestrials are visiting Earth. Framed within a Twilight Zone style premise and set in a small town in New Mexico in the 1950s, it follows a teen at a radio station and his friend at the local telephone exchange who intercept strange sounds which seem to have an unearthly origin. As they investigate, they come to believe that the authorities are hiding the fact that contact with alien life may have been made. The premise is well worn but with its period trappings and unpredictable approach, The Vast Of Night breathes fresh life into familiar fare.

STILL ON SONG TOM JONES AT 80 BBC Four, Friday, June 5, 9pm

■ With no gigs or any other live shows to enjoy at the moment, this celebration of Tom Jones as he turns 80 is a timely one, looking over a remarkable career that spans six decades. From his humble beginnings as a singer in working men’s clubs in South Wales in the early 60s to riding the wave of immense popularity with huge hits like It’s Not Unusual and Delilah, we see Jones become an international superstar who comes to count Elvis Presley as a close friend during his Vegas years. A career revival in the latter years of the 20th century, has seen Jones’ popularity soar once more in the last two decades so that he’s now regarded as a national treasure.

GEEK CULTURE THE IT CROWD Channel 4, Friday, June 5, 11.05pm

■ Get plenty of strong coffee to hand as the first series of Graham Linehan’s cult comedy about computer nerds gets a back-to-back airing from 11.05pm on Friday night through to 2am on Saturday morning. The arrival of Jen (Katherine Parkinson), a new, female manager in an IT department disrupts the geeky world of Moss (Richard Ayoade) and Roy (Chris O’Dowd) especially as she knows very little about technology. Often hilarious thanks to the comic chops of its lead characters and whenever Matt Berry’s eccentric corporate bozo is on screen.

HOOP DREAMS THE LAST DANCE Netflix
