Dealer who hid crack cocaine in shed jailed
A HOUNSLOW drug dealer has been jailed after police discovered crack cocaine and heroin in a garden shed during a raid on a property, after receiving information that one of the occupiers was involved in the supply of drugs.
While executing a warrant, under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, at Chinchilla Drive, Hounslow, officers from the Met Police found three adults on the premises.
While an initial search of the property failed to uncover any drugs, when officers searched a shed in the garden they found approximately 60 wraps of cocaine and heroin, hidden among several mopeds.
Jamie Townsend, 21, of Chinchilla Drive, Hounslow, and a man aged 29 were then both arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and taken to a nearby police station.
During an interview at the police station Townsend answered “no comment” to all questions, however on examination of phones and with advice from West Area Drugs Focus Desk, police were able to charge him with possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin.
He appeared at Guildford Crown Court on October 1 for these charges, along with a possession with intent to supply charge from Surrey Police. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 32 months imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by Cranford Safer Neighbourhood Team with the assistance of Hounslow Safer Neighbourhood Officers, acting on information that one of the occupiers was involved
in the supply of drugs.
PC Darrell Tirant, of Cranford Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “As a dedicated ward officer for Cranford, I have worked closely with the local residents, as well as the local authority, to put a case together and take positive action in relation to an individual who was heavily involved in drug related offences in Chinchilla Drive, Hounslow.
“Cranford’s neighbourhood team have followed up on the concerns of residents and the local authority and the ultimate conviction received at court in this case demonstrates the seriousness of the offences committed.
“The success of this case demonstrates the importance of positive working relationships between the police, the community and the local authority.”
The second man arrested was released from police custody with no further action taken.
