Week raises awareness about skin conditions
TO MARK Psoriasis Awareness Week 2020, the Psoriasis Association is launching a campaign to #KnowYourPso aimed at answering questions about the most commonly experienced types of psoriasis.
Awareness Week, which starts on World Psoriasis Day on October 29 and runs until November 4, 2020, will introduce a number of resources and content aimed at helping people to understand more about their psoriasis.
Over the course of the week, the charity will focus on a different type of psoriasis each day, chosen from those which are most commonly asked about on the helpline. They will provide a mix of video content, shared stories and tips from healthcare professionals which will be released on the relevant day during the week.
Speaking today, Psoriasis Association Chief Executive Helen McAteer said: “Psoriasis Awareness Week is an important time of year in which we can give a focus on specific aspects of the condition.
“This year we are using the outcomes of our Priority Setting Partnership study into the research priorities for psoriasis to highlight the different types of psoriasis and to help people better understand the condition.
“This means that we will be focusing on ‘types of psoriasis’ and will be featuring a different type each day chosen from those which are most often asked about on our forums, helpline and WhatsApp service. The work of the Psoriasis
Association is threefold, to raise awareness, provide information, advice and support and to fund and promote research.
“It is testament to our varied work practices that we are able to bring together insights from people living with psoriasis, people treating those living with psoriasis, and people researching the different aspects of psoriasis to increase our understanding”.
