A WEST London paedophile who groomed a teenage girl online before sexually abusing her in public toilets has been convicted.

Alex Cadwell groomed the 13-yearold girl for around a month, inciting her to commit sexual acts, before meeting in real life.

The 21-year-old, of Greenacres Avenue, Uxbridge met the girl in the toilets to the rear of the British Legion on Hollyhedge Road, Cobham on August 24, 2019. It was in the toilets where Cadwell sexually abused the victim.

Cadwell was arrested on August 30 after an allegation of rape was reported to police.

Detectives from Surrey Police found Cadwell had groomed the victim for around a month before arranging to meet the teenager.

His digital devices were seized, and the investigation revealed extensive online grooming of the victim, together with other offences involving other victims.

Cadwell was charged on October 18 last year and remanded in custody until his trial. At Kingston Crown Court on Monday November 30, he was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity and meeting a child following sexual grooming.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual communication with a child, three counts of making indecent images of children (Categories A, B and C) and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.

He will appear at Kingston Crown Court on January 22, 2021 to be sentenced.
