A VIOLENT thug from west London who attacked a number of people with a hammer in the space of an hour has been jailed.

On September 16 2019, four people reported that they had been threatened or attacked by a man armed with a hammer in the Hayes area.

One person was hit over the head with the weapon multiple times, another was robbed and two others were victims of attempted robberies.

In one of the attempted robberies, a victim was hit on the head with a hammer causing injury that required hospital treatment.

In another attack, the victim was hit with the hammer multiple times, resulting in five fractures to his skull.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police launched an investigation and Barington Samuels was identified as a suspect. The 27-year-old, of Carlyle Gardens, Southall, was arrested on September 25 and was later charged with GBH, robbery and two attempted robberies.

Samuels pleaded guilty to all four offences and at Isleworth Crown Court on November 23 was jailed for 12 years.

A further four years will be served on an extended licence.

Detective Constable Emma Richards, who led the investigation, said: “Thanks to the quick response from our uniformed colleagues and joint working between the West Area BCU CID and Crime Squad, we were able to identify Barington Samuels and arrest him for all four offences.

“Despite denying being involved, thanks to the overwhelming evidence collected he changed his plea at court and received a lengthy sentence, sending a clear message that violence will not be tolerated on the west area.”
