THE new Heathrow Express trains, which are part of a new fleet whisking passengers from London to Heathrow Airport, have rolled out for the first time.

The new Heathrow Express trains set out on the first tome on Tuesday December 29, as the company welcomed in the new enhanced 387 fleet.

In a Tweet celebrating the momentous day, the company wrote: “Today’s the day we’re rolling out our new Heathrow Express fleet.

“Our new 387 fleet offers a range of enhancements over the previous 332s, and we can’t wait to show you when you’re next on board.”

The new fleet replace the Class 332 trains, which saw their last day out on the tracks the previous day.

The 332 trains had served the company and its customers for 25 years.

In a Tweet on December 29, the Heathrow Express wrote: “Today we’re saying farewell to our Class 332 trains.

“After serving us very well over the past 25 years, they are making their final journeys before introducing our new fleet tomorrow.

“Wave the 332s goodbye and say hello to the 387s.”

According to the Global Railway Review, the new range of features include at seat USB power, new Business First seating and work tables and a striking external livery.

The fully electric trains will be made up of 12 units or 48 carriages, which will form six trains each 160m long with a total of 374 seats including 44 Business First.

The fleet of Class 387 trains have been specially converted to offer a bespoke experience for air travellers with plenty of room for luggage, onboard HD TVs and faster single signon wi-fi, meaning customers can stay connected from London Paddington to the airport.

The Heathrow Express connects London Paddington station and Heathrow terminals, travelling between Heathrow Central and London Paddington in just 15 minutes.
