Man dies following street fight
POLICE have launched an investigation after a man died following a fight by Eastcote London Underground station at the weekend.
It is understood the fight broke out outside Carpet World on Field End Road in Hillingdon. Officers from the Met Police were called to the emergency by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday following reports of a fight.
Medics from the LAS attended to the unresponsive and injured man, believed to be in his 40s, but sadly he could not be helped and died at the scene.
A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.
In photos taken at the scene a number of police cars can be seen as well as a police tent.
A spokesman for the Met said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday January 10 following reports of a fight on Field End Road.
“Officers attended, along with LAS, and found an unresponsive man. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.”
The death is being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon.
The spokesman added: “A crime scene remains in place as enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident.
“The Met’s investigation is led by homicide detectives from Specialist Crime.”
