Brooklyn Beckham’s ready to fly the coop. Can Posh keep her first-born close at hand by giving him the job of his dreams?

One way to stop your son running off to the US? Give him a job

You’re not meant to have a favourite child, but we get the feeling that Victoria Beckham might have an extra soft spot for first-born son Brooklyn. We’ve been hearing that the fashion designer has been having nightmares that her beloved boy, who’s just turned 18, is going to run off to live full time in Los Angeles.

As we previously reported last November, she’s worried about losing her “lovely, sweet teen”, who’s being swayed by girls and the American dream. And now he’s officially an adult, there’s no stopping him. But heat hears that Victoria has a plan to keep him on the Beckham lead – she’s giving him a very swanky, most-teens-would-kill-for-it job. An insider says, “When he finishes this summer at his arty college in North London, he’s going to work for Victoria. She thinks he has a fantastic eye for fashion and is very talented – he’ll have a creative/photography-type role. Victoria is in the process of securing a new office in West London – she wants to open more shops, with New York being the next location, and she wants Brooklyn to be involved.”

Last week, Brooklyn – who shot a fashion campaign last year for Burberry – accompanied his mum on a trip to Paris, and she was later seen in New York, grinning in a very un-vb way. The insider continues, “They’re very close, and he spends a lot of time following her around the world, giving her advice on her work. She very much mollycoddles him, and he steps in to look after her when David is away. Nobody makes her laugh as much as Brooklyn does.”

The insider adds that Brooklyn’s parents do everything they can to keep him grounded. “David and Victoria have brought Brooklyn up as normally as possible. They made him get a job and learn the value of money, but they know now that he is a target for girls. They’ve done all they can to tell him to be careful about who he dates. The money and the fame make him all the more of a catch.”
