Britain’s Next Top Model judge Nicky Johnston gives his top tips

Photographer Nicky Johnston is the king of snappers. So who better to advise us on taking fab selfies?

“Always have soft lighting. Never stand under a spotlight,” he says. “And, even if you’re not posting the picture to Instagram, still put it in the app, filter it, then screen grab it and it goes back into your camera roll. You can then edit the photo and post it where you want.”

And what about some extra help? “Lots of celebs use retouching tools, but it makes it look like their faces have melted. Until a decent app comes out, don’t airbrush!”
