SERIES PREMIERE

Praise be! Our favourite boozeswilling, jazz-loving priest is back – and if you thought poor Sidney had issues before, you ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s 1955 and four months on from where we left off in the Christmas special. Amanda and baby Grace are residing in a cottage down the road from the vicarage and Sidney’s doing his level best to resist his unholy urges. So far, it seems to be working out fairly well, but when Amanda’s controlling ex Guy demands to see Grace, Sidney blows his top (sadly not literally – there are no swimming scenes this series). Geordie’s having his own romantic woes, as his marriage to Cathy seems to be slowly deteriorating, but the murder of Dr Atwell, who ran a homeless shelter, soon gives him something to think about. Like, how does a man drown in a church? It’s quite the conundrum.
