Paul O’grady loves animals so much, he flies to India to rescue and rehabilitate a whole bunch of them for this two-parter. Travelling all over the country, Paul meets the keepers and conservationists who look after vulnerable animals. In this first episode, he visits an elephant sanctuary where he meets an obese elephant called Lakshmi, who’s too heavy to walk to the river. Paul obliges by giving her a wash. ★★★★ Jason Arnopp
