Mark: ‘I’ll be as big as James Corden’
The only way is LA for Mr Wright, as he sets his sights on making it in Tinseltown
City of stars, are you shining just for me?” For most of us that’s just the catchy La La Land earworm, but for Mark Wright, it’s pretty much the question going round and round in his head.
The former TOWIE star has been in LA pursuing his dream of hitting the big time as a TV presenter, and it sounds like he’s feeling positive. A source tells us, “Mark was at a party in LA telling friends he’s very confident he’ll get a job in Hollywood. He said he could be as big as James Corden.”
That’s right: A-list favourite, OBE, and host of the incredibly successful The Late Late Show James Corden, who’s on a five-year contract worth a reported £10million. It’s important to dream big, eh?
This isn’t the first time Mark, 30, has headed Stateside, but this time things seem more promising. He recently quit CBBC’S The Dengineers to free himself up, and now has the same US manager who represented presenters Ryan Seacrest and Jimmy Kimmel.
“Apparently, TV network E! wants to sign up new talent, and producers feel Mark really has something on screen,” the source tells us. “He’d definitely move to LA for the right role – he loves the city. He’s been grafting hard since leaving TOWIE to cement himself as a respected presenter, and is using Take Me Out: The Gossip as his showreel.”
This comes just as Mark and his wife Michelle Keegan, 29, prepare to spend over eight months apart. The couple, who celebrate their second wedding anniversary next month, will be separated as Michelle heads to South Africa to film her second series of BBC drama Our Girl. Our insider says, “Mark and Michelle are a team and although she’s not as keen as he is about moving to America, they have discussed it at length and she’d be on board. Mark doesn’t think it’d be forever, but feels it’s the right time for both of them. He also thinks L A would be a great place to raise a family in the future.”
