‘Wear my dress to Pippa’s wedding’
With only three weeks to go, Meg’s considering urgent options
Nobody freak out, but it looks like the guest list for this year’s hottest social event just reopened. heat hears that, last week, Pippa Middleton finally relented on her strict “no-ring, no-bring” rule for her May wedding, adding Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Meghan Markle, to the table plan. And, luckily for the Suits actress – who now has only three weeks to find the perfect non-white outfit – a certain top fashion designer (*cough* Victoria Beckham *cough*) is on hand, and telling everyone that she’s desperate to dress Meghan for the occasion.
“Of course, Victoria’s been in touch to offer her services,” says an insider close to the star, whose designs have been worn by everyone from Beyoncé to Kate Winslet. “She told Meghan that she can have absolutely anything she wants from any of her collections. Victoria’s team are on hand to tailor something, or even make a totally one-off dress – no matter how late notice. Victoria’s also offered to provide another outfit if Meghan wants to change in the evening. She will work all hours to make it happen.” Posh hasn’t got long, as Pippa’s big day is set for Saturday 20 May – but, as heat told you last week, VB’S currently on a mission to get
in with the royals. The 43 year old was at the palace two weeks ago to accept an OBE, and hubby David is already friends with Prince William (Posh and Becks were at his and Kate’s 2011 wedding). “Victoria thinks it would be good for business to get the ‘royal’ stamp of approval on her clothes,” says a friend. “She’s keen to build an alliance with Meghan – especially as they’ll probably see each other at events over the summer. She’s really got her fingers crossed that Meghan will pick a VB dress for Pippa’s wedding.”
It would be a change of fashion direction for Meghan, 35, who said last year, “I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don’t have the long torso to support that silhouette.” And insiders say there could be another contender for Meghan’s dress-affections – former Made In
Chelsea star-turned fashion designer, Millie Mackintosh. The pair are friends, heading on holiday to Oxfordshire together last year and going on bike rides in London. Meghan’s never actually worn any of Millie’s designs in public before, but another source tells us that the star remains hopeful. “Millie’s definitely sent clothes to Meghan,” says the insider. “She sent over a big selection of outfits and told her to pick anything she wants.”
