Divorce season 1 DVD & Blu-ray, Monday 8 May

Some critics didn’t know what to make of this comedy-drama series by Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), starring Sarah Jessica Parker as a woman who decides it’s time to reassess her marriage to her husband Robert. The tone is even more bittersweet than Catastrophe, with just as many brilliant observations about relationships and parenthood, and an amazing supporting cast. ★★★★ Boyd Hilton

Orange Is The New Black season 4 DVD & Blu-ray, Monday 8 May

Just in time for you to catch up before the new, fifth season starts on 9 June on Netflix. This fourth run of the comedy-drama (or dramedy, as they say in the States), has some of the show’s boldest plot turns since it began, as racial tensions at the Litchfield women’s prison explode in dramatic style. The extras feature a gag reel, set tour, and commentaries with cast and crew. ★★★★★ Boyd Hilton

The Last Kingdom series 1 & 2 DVD, Monday 8 May

Containing more bloody battles than you could shake an axe at, this set brings together both series so far of the show based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories. Super-hot Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) launched a voyage to avenge Earl Ragnar’s death and reclaim his ancestral lands. Cue cart-loads of shouting, epic landscapes and Vikingon-saxon violence. Hooray! ★★★★ Jason Arnopp

Grantchester series 1 & 2 DVD, Monday 8 May

If you’ve suddenly become smitten with this period crime drama – starring deeply hunky James Norton as ’50s vicar Sidney Chambers, who investigates murders alongside actual Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green) – then rejoice at this box set of the first two series. There’s also the matter of Sidney’s illicit love for the lovely Amanda (Morven Christie), to keep things ticking along, too… ★★★★ Liam Wright
