Now Angelina’s gone, Brad Pitt wants to cast ex-wife Jennifer Aniston in his new space movie. But does she need the drama?
She’s not up for a reunion. Awkward…
There’s nothing like a desperate plea from an ex to stir up a bit of drama. But Brad Pitt’s calls to Jennifer Aniston aren’t about a romantic reunion, he’s just trying to cast the female lead in his new movie Ad Astra, which starts filming in July, and was meant to star, er, Angelina Jolie…
“Brad would love to co-star with Jennifer,” says an insider close to the 53-year-old, who’s producing the sci-fi thriller and is – so far – the only actor to be cast. “It desperately needs a female lead, and obviously it can’t be Ange with everything that’s been going on. So Brad was hoping Jen might be interested. He knows she would be box-office gold, and she could hopefully help them take millions.”
As heat told you, Brad and Jen have been back in touch following his messy split from Ange, 41 last September, and the ongoing custody battle over their six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, ten, and twins Vivienne and Knox, eight. But insiders say that doesn’t mean Jen, 48, is ready to work opposite the man who left her after five years of marriage in 2005 to shack up with someone else. “Jennifer isn’t going to accept the offer,” says our source. “She was happy to give Brad a shoulder to cry on when he and Angie broke up, but that’s where things end. Jen doesn’t need Brad’s help to star in a blockbuster, and even if this was the perfect role for her, it’d be a bad idea to work with her ex.” Jen recently admitted feeling lost with work, saying, “I’m not completely sure what I’m doing… I’m at this sort of crossroads trying to figure out what inspires me deep in my core.”
But friends say even though she knows making a film with Brad would be a high-profile move for her career, Jen wouldn’t risk things with her husband of 18 months, Justin Theroux, 45. “She and Justin talked about the offer, just to make sure they were on the same page,” says the insider. “And they both agreed they don’t need the drama it would bring. Justin is the love of Jen’s life and their marriage is very tight, but this would kick off all kinds of rumours. The last thing she needs is everything being stirred up again.”
