Secrets and lies do have a habit of coming out...

-

It’s a miracle that the fact Shona Ramsey is the mum of “killer of Kylie” Clayton hasn’t come out yet. But that could all change, as news spreads that Clayton has been hospitalised, and David gets drunk and celebrates – before collapsing on the spot where Kylie died. As Shona offers support, she has the perfect chance to reveal the truth. But will she? Actress Julia Goulding explains what’s going on in Shona’s head.

How does Shona feel around David, being Clayton’s mum?

Very awkward. And more so when Gail is around, because Gail has a hawk eye on her. It’s a Catch 22, because she feels relieved that someone knows the truth, but also guilty it’s David’s mum and he has to keep her secret.

Does she fancy David?

She is very confused. On top of any feelings that may be there, there’s a layer of guilt and a layer of stress from keeping this secret. If she does, it’s buried very deep.

Did you watch Kylie’s death?

I cried my eyes out! It was heart-wrenching, and I was gutted Paula Lane was going, because she was an amazing character. Little did I know where it’d take me...

What’s it been like working with Jack P Shepherd?

He’s brilliant, and he makes me laugh because he’s very dry.

Have you enjoyed working with Helen Worth [AKA Gail]?

She is a legend in every sense of the word. I adore working with her. As for Shona and Gail’s relationship, the more they are getting to know each other, the more they are realising how much they have in common. Rather than attack Shona when she found out about Clayton, Gail reassured her by saying she didn’t kill Kylie, Clayton did. They do have a genuine friendship and one that’s come from a place that no one expected.

What do you think Shona should do next?

Well, as is quite well known in soap, secrets don’t stay secret for very long. The reason she is not telling the truth about who she is, is she knows the repercussions of coming clean would just be huge. She is finally settled, got herself a job and friendships. Personally, I think she should, because it’s always better to tell the truth. n
