Sorry Taylor: they are getting VERY close
Taylor Swift’s worst nightmare is happening: her ex, Calvin Harris, announced last week that his new album, out 30 June, would feature none other than Katy Perry – the singer who Tay has been locked in a two-and-a-half-year feud with.
And it could be about to get even worse for Taylor, because not only have the pair been sneaking in secret studio sessions, they’ve also been calling each other since Katy became single two months ago.
“Katy and Adam [Calvin’s real name] really bonded while making their track, and have been in constant contact ever since,” says our insider. “Besides their rivalry with Taylor, they’ve actually got lots in common – they’ve read the same books, and love the same music. Katy even bought Adam this old, rare Elvis Presley record worth around $350,000 – he was really flattered.”
Katy’s feud with Taylor started when Tay released Bad Blood and hinted in interviews that it was about a singer she used to be friends with, but ended up being “a straight-up enemy”. Katy, 32, replied by tweeting, “Beware the Regina George in sheep’s clothing,” referring to Rachel Mcadams’ bitchy character in Mean Girls. The beef was pretty much confirmed when Calvin, 33, went on a Twitter rant after he and Taylor split, accusing his ex of “trying to bury Katy”.
Last week, when Katy was asked if her upcoming album would feature a track about Taylor, she replied, “Let me say this: everything has a reaction or a consequence, so don’t forget about that, OK, honey?” Which basically means yes, right?
But it’s not all about getting one over on Taylor – Calvin’s a good match for Katy, who loves a Brit (hello, Orlando Bloom) and also loves a musician (hey, John Mayer), and our insider says revenge is only a small part of the attraction. “Katy thinks Calvin’s really handsome and talented,” says the friend. “And he seems to be really into her.”
