5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

DAVID LYNCH SAYS IT’S A FILM

The 18-hour series is “a feature film in 18 parts”, according to Lynch, who directed the whole damn thing and shot for 142 days over seven months – but not on Saturdays and Sundays. He doesn’t ever work over the weekends, apparently. Quite right, too, Dave.

THE SCRIPT IS 800 PAGES

Written over a period of three years by David Lynch and his original Twin Peaks co-creator, the script grew from 400-500 pages in its early version, and then expanded during pre-production, and even more during production, until it maxed out at a huge 800 pages. The average movie is about 100 pages, just so you know.

AGENT COOPER IS THE ONLY CONFIRMED CHARACTER

While loads of original cast members have been confirmed for the highly secretive project, the only actual character mentioned in the official information about the new series is Kyle Maclachlan’s Agent Cooper. So, in theory, all those original stars could be playing entirely new people.

IT TAKES PLACE ACROSS AMERICA

Unlike the original show, which mostly took place in the Pacific North-west surrounds of fictional small town Twin Peaks, this series is set all over the US. Although, according to Showtime bigwig David Nevins, “Twin Peaks is an important locus, but it’s not the only locus.”

IT’S STAR-STUDDED

Alongside the many cast members from the original series, there’ll be a whole load of major stars in parts big and small, including Naomi Watts, Michael Cera, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Laura Dern, Monica Bellucci, David Duchovny, Tim Roth and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, who may or may not sing.
