Cheryl and Liam had a huge party for baby Bear, and we’ve got all the insider details…
He’s almost two months old and is already the most famous Bear on the planet (sorry, Yogi), but Cheryl and Liam have kept their baby away from the spotlight since posting a grainy image of his dad hugging him six weeks ago.
But Cheryl, 33, and Liam’s friends and family are far better acquainted. Last week, they were invited to the couple’s Surrey home for a weekend of festivities – all centred around baby Bear. And while neither Cheryl nor Liam, 23, posted anything online themselves, we still managed to get a glimpse of the action, thanks to their friends. Firstly, Liam’s best mate Andy Samuels posted a pic to Snapchat of himself standing beside Liam and his friends, with the message, “God bless Bear from the lads.” Andy also posted a picture of a box of cupcakes decorated with baby faces and “Bear” milk bottles. In the evening, Andy posted a video of Cheryl’s brother Garry tapping his Corona bottle on a counter to see if the pressure would force the lid off (it didn’t).
And the party didn’t stop there. The next day, Cheryl’s assistant Lily England posted videos of herself and a friend walking across Liam and Cheryl’s covered pool, and later making Eton mess, with Liam visible in the background.
It’s likely that the party was a welcome interruption to Liam’s busy schedule. The week before, he was described by fans as “tired” while filming a music video. But last Tuesday, following the party, he was full of excitement, as he told fans at B96 radio station in Chicago that he was in love with his son – who was a “mini version of him”, but with Cheryl’s eyes – and said he was proud to have “made a human”. He also revealed the story behind Bear’s name, admitting that, while he liked traditional monikers, Cheryl preferred unique ones, and that he “didn’t even fight it, because Cheryl was the one doing all the work”. He added that they sometimes call him “Cub”.
Liam went on to say that there’s “no competition” between him and the other 1D boys, which is good news, given both Harry and Niall’s plans to meet Bear. Harry said he’d be “honoured” to be made godfather, while Niall told us he’d bought Bear some trainers.
When not gushing about fatherhood, Liam’s been busy breaking the internet. Early last week, he released a ten-second clip of his new video, which features him topless. On Thursday, a whole 20-second clip was unveiled, along with the news that he was “mad excited” to announce that his new single, Strip That Down, will be released on 19 May. n CHARLOTTE OLIVER
