VB’S writing a “style bible” – with a little help from Anna Wintour
She’s been in China promoting her sunglasses and make-up range with Estée Lauder, and last week Victoria Beckham was having so much fun that she ditched her pout and cracked a smile.
But Victoria has another reason for looking so happy: she’s writing a style bible, due out in 2018, to celebrate ten years since she started her fashion label. The 43-yearold designer’s even managed to get US Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s backing for the book, so it’s bound to be a hit.
“Victoria has started work on a style bible, and Anna is the one who encouraged her to do it,” explains heat ’s insider, who adds that the book will be very different to Posh’s Wag-tastic 2006 guide to fashion and beauty. “Anna saw an opportunity and pushed Vic to do this, offering to help in any way she can. The new book will be full of new details about her life in fashion, and everything she’s learned up to now.”
And it won’t just be advice on how to look good on David Beckham’s arm – when it comes to fashion, Victoria really knows what she’s talking about. The mother of four first launched her eponymous label in 2008, with Anna’s support – the legendary editor called it “the hottest thing going on in New York”. That seal of approval allowed it her designs to grow into a £30m fashion empire.
Anna continues to offer Posh her backing wherever she can – she’s always front row at VB’S global fashion shows, and declared that five-year-old Harper was her favourite celebrity child (sorry, North West).
“Anna’s grown fond of Victoria over the years, and has become a mentor of sorts,” explains the source. “She’s seen how hard Victoria worked to get accepted in the industry, and believes she’s a key driving force in fashion. She was the one who reminded Victoria that, in 2018, it will be ten years since she launched her range, and told her that she needs to mark that milestone.”
