“Lifeguards sometimes need to jump from a seated position. Jump-squats require explosiven­ess and excellent leg strength. They are great at toning your legs and bum, and also incorporat­e cardio. With your feet hip-width apart, squat as low as you can, as though you’re sitting down on a low chair, and then jump up, keeping your knees soft. Land back into a squat position. Repeat ten jumps and take a 30-second rest. Repeat the set three times.”
