Spencer Pratt exclusively reveals the mums-to-be are battling
We’re in the middle of a Hills baby epidemic. Three of the cast – Lauren Conrad, Heidi Pratt and Whitney Port are all pregnant right now. And, while you might think that’d be a special time for them, Heidi’s husband Spencer Pratt tells heat that it’s reignited old rivalries between the reality show cast.
“The baby news war is just beginning,” he says, adding in true Spencer style that his and Heidi’s announcement last month, confirming that they’re having a baby boy, has overshadowed Lauren’s pregnancy. “I almost forgot LC was pregnant,” he jokes.
The cast are battling it out for media attention (Speidi’s pregnancy announcement landed the cover of US Weekly, while Lauren’s Instagram post about hers got 818k likes) and Spencer claims that The Hills fans are
way more into his and Heidi’s pregnancy. “I’m beyond hyped that people are very happy for the Speidi baby. People are way more invested in my and Heidi’s relationship over ten years than LC and her guitar player husband [Will Tell].”
Lauren’s former Teen Vogue workmate Whitney is also having her first child, with TV producer husband Tim Rosenman, and Spencer tells us that’s bad timing for Lauren. “I think LC is more annoyed that Whitney is pregnant than [she is about] me and Heidi, because Whitney is more the brand that Lauren wishes she’d be,” he tells us, adding, “Lauren’s going to have to work even harder, because Speidi’s got some big things in the works for the baby.”
Whitney, he says, “is so chill” she’s not bothered that her former reality castmates are pregnant at the same time as her. “Hopefully, Speidi baby and Whitney’s baby can go to Crossroads school together, like Whitney and I did – that’d be fun on parent-teacher conference night,” he says. Whitney’s due in July, and by the sounds of her recent blog (“I love my baby, but I hate my pregnancy”), she’s keen just to get the baby out. Lauren’s baby is due next month (she had her baby shower last week, with fellow Hills alumni Lo Bosworth as a guest), and Speidi’s will arrive in September. Spencer is keen to point out that he’s not “hating on LC’S baby”. Maybe, he suggests, they could even grow up to be friends. “It’d be like Game Of Thrones, where the enemies’ children can get along,” he says. But until then? “It’s baby wars,” he tells us. “With Whitney and Heidi’s pregnancies, LC’S dream is over!”
