It’s been a traumatic few weeks for Ariana Grande, but she finally has something to smile about again – her boyfriend Mac Miller has popped the question.
The singer was spotted with a huge diamond on her engagement finger as she headlined the One Love Manchester gig – which raised millions for the victims of the terror attack at her concert on 22 May – and heat has learned that Mac proposed while he helped her cope with the awful events. “They were already living together, but Mac was so incredibly supportive of Ariana after the tragedy in Manchester that she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him,” a source says. “He’d been dropping hints about it for a while, anyway, then he proposed three days after the bombing when she was back in Florida. He loves Ari like crazy.”
However, the couple didn’t want to make their news official out of respect for the 22 fans who were killed at the MEN Arena show on 22 May, as well as everyone else who was affected by the attack. The source continues, “Ariana doesn’t think it’s in good taste when so many people are still suffering – they will announce it when the time is right.”
Ariana began dating rapper Mac last year, and while they’re totally committed to each other, they won’t be rushing down the aisle any time soon. “She is only 23 and has told him she doesn’t want to get married until she’s 25,” our insider adds.
During the gig, Ariana was joined on stage by Mac, 24, for a romantic performance of their song The Way, during which they shared a kiss. They were first linked when they recorded the song in 2013, but at the time insisted they were “good friends”. She has also dated Janoskians singer Jai Brooks, but they split after she allegedly cheated on him with The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes (something that Ariana denies). They got back together, but broke up again, with Ari going on to briefly date rapper Big Sean. But it seems Mac – who Ari says she has “loved and adored” since she was 19 – was always The One.
