Rochelle: ‘I did a diet once and it was awful’

The new mum on shaping up and going back to work

- KELLY ALLEN

As a general rule, celebrity mums make the whole baby-having thing look ridiculously easy. Within weeks of giving birth, they’re swanning around town in their skinny jeans, putting their effortless weight loss down to running around after their kids.

That’s why, when we meet Rochelle Humes, it’s like a breath of fresh air. The TV presenter and Saturdays singer, who is married to EX-JLS star Marvin Humes, gave birth to their second daughter Valentina three months ago (eldest daughter Alaia-mai is four.) And while she looks amazing, she is candid about what it takes to juggle the demands of being a mother with having a career in the spotlight – and looking the part.

Here she tells us what it takes to look and feel her best – and

shocker, it does in fact take quite a lot of effort… How’s being a mum of two treating you? Really well. Obviously, having two is a bit of a juggle. My mum is there today – I would be lost without her. I got my eldest ready and now my mum will be having a manic day in the heat with them. But Marvin helps you, too? Yes, he’s a good egg. You look amazing – what’s your secret? I’m really trying, but it’s not easy. I train and work out in between nap times and I’ve got a trainer who pushes me – there’s no way I could do it without him. He’s really nice, but he doesn’t take any prisoners. I tried to cancel yesterday, because it was too hot and he wouldn’t let me. I really hated him for it. Do you follow any diet? I’ve never been that person who’s into dieting, because I can’t sustain it. I did a diet once and it was awful and made me miserable – I would never do it again. I’m a fan of eating what you want as long as it’s good for you and you know where it’s from. I’m really into organic and healthy food, but I’ve never believed in eating no carbs or no fat. Does Marvin’s former bandmate JB Gill give you supplies from his farm? He gave us a delivery of amazing eggs, so I’m utilising him. I was like, “What else have you got? A turkey?” As long as it’s good. Is it just as important to you to give your kids healthy food? I’m obsessed with everything being right and good for them, but I’m also up against the struggle of not having any time. As a mum who has two children and probably works more than I should, I feel guilty for not always giving my child the best. Will you be going back to work soon? Yes. I’ve been doing bits, but I’m looking forward to getting back properly in August. I’m doing Ninja Warrior UK again, and I’ll be back on Lorraine soon. What about a Saturdays reunion to mark it being ten years since you formed? We’ll probably do a dinner to celebrate our ten-year reunion, but we won’t be performing. Everyone needs to miss us before it’s the right time. Rochelle is supporting Europe’s first cold-pressed baby food brand, My First Savsé, available in seven, nutritious, 100 per cent organic and completely natural flavours
