Love Island love rat Jonny Mitchell was a bad boy before he joined the show, too – his ex-fiancée’s BFF tells heat all
A friend of his ex says she called off their wedding after discovering the truth
He billed himself as one of the villa’s nice guys. But some contestants have called Jonny Mitchell’s authenticity into question over the past week, after he dumped the nation’s sweetheart, Camilla, and, within minutes, was kissing Tyla. And his island-mates are not the only ones questioning the 26-yearold “business director” from Essex’s “nice guy” status. Speaking exclusively to heat, a close friend of Jonny’s former fiancée Lauren Baxter tells us he is, in fact, “the biggest sleaze you will ever meet”. Yikes. How long were Lauren and Jonny together? Six years. He told the other contestants on Love Island that they broke up because she wanted kids, but it was because he’d been cheating on her. They were engaged, but broke up last June, when she found out. She saw on his group chat how, on a trip to Ibiza, he slept with a couple of girls. He was talking about how this was “normal Jonny behaviour” and how he’d had to get an STI test when he got home. She was just like, “Who is this person I’m going to marry?” So it was Lauren who called off the wedding? Yeah. It was going to be on
13 June this year – only a few days after he went on the show. They were just about to send out “save the dates” and had chosen the venue in Santorini… They’d even chosen the wedding menu. But she told me she just couldn’t forgive him – it wasn’t even a drunken thing; he was sober, talking about doing it again. How did he propose? In Bali, in a restaurant full of candles. She loved him to bits, but it turned out she was wrong to trust him. What did she think when he appeared on Love Island? She had no idea. We were all watching it, and then heard his voice. It was awful. She just burst into tears. The funny thing is, Lauren really likes Love Island and says that last year, while she was watching it, Jonny was like, “Get this shit off, I’m not watching this crap.” He hated it. It’s just so laughable. He’s desperate for fame. Do you reckon that’s why he’s in there? Yes, 100 per cent. You can tell that’s what it’s all about. He’s the best liar ever. He lies about the small things, which is just unnecessary. He wants to come across as sweet – and stay in for as long as possible. Is that why he first went for Camilla? Yes. Amber would have been his type, without
a doubt. He likes feisty brunettes. Camilla is way too boring for him. She’s really sweet, but they were totally mismatched. We wish she knew how disgustingly he behaved with Lauren. What else has he lied about? We’ve seen Instagram pictures of him with sports cars saying “my baby” – but it’s his dad’s car, so that’s embarrassing. And on his Love Island VT , he said he’s not the kind of guy who works out… Well, he doesn’t work, and spends four hours every day in the gym. His Instagram shows him on luxurious holidays around the world, but he’s just funded by his dad. Is Lauren relieved that some contestants are growing suspicious of him? Yeah. They live with him full-time, while the public only see what the producers show you. It’s been really hard seeing the public think he’s such a lovely gentleman, when her experience is that he’s absolutely the least gentlemanly man she’s ever met in her life. n CHARLOTTE OLIVER
