Investigate How To Get Away With Murder’s third series

THURSDAY 13 JULY, SKY LIVING & NOW TV, 9PM

-

The wait is over, How To Get Away With Murder fans – season three of the highly addictive US drama is finally here. And, according to reports Stateside (where it aired nine months ago), the gloriously soapy crime thriller is every bit as gripping as season two. Created by Peter Nowalk and produced by Midas of mainstream TV, Shonda Rhimes and her production company “Shondaland” (also responsible for Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal), HTGAWM is moving to Sky Living, guaranteeing even more bums on seats.

THE PREMISE

Emmy award-winning Viola Davis plays formidable attorney and law professor Annalise Keating, who selects five of her first-year students to intern at her firm: Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch), Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee), Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King), Asher Millstone (Matt Mcgorry), and Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza). Through a sequence of flashbacks and flash-forwards, season one explores two related murders – Lila Stangard, mistress of Annalise’s husband and a student at their university, and then Sam Keating, Annalise’s husband, who was killed by Annalise’s sentient interns.

WHERE WE LEFT OFF

There was drama aplenty for the Keating 5 in season two. In the mid-season finale, Annalise tried to cover up the murder of Assistant District Attorney Emily Sinclair and, in the process, gets a bullet to the stomach thanks to Wes. It’s later

revealed that Annalise was, in fact, involved in Wes’ mother’s suicide ten years ago – and just as Wes meets Wallace Mahoney, the man believed to be his biological father, he’s shot dead by an unknown shooter. Demand for bulletproof vests is high.

WHAT’S TO COME IN SEASON THREE?

Having already aired in the States, fans should avoid Google like the plague if they want to avoid major spoilers – including which of the main characters dies (whaaat?). Apart from that bombshell, we can reveal that all the students are struggling to move on after Wallace Mahoney’s death, Annalise has set up a free legal clinic and is battling her alcoholism, and Frank is still trying to atone for the death of her child.

CATCH-UP TIME

Don’t worry if you’re a Joanna come lately and yet to jump on the How To

Get Away With Murder bandwagon. Seasons one and two are on Netflix, and we reckon you can nail all 30 episodes in a weekend. And the best news is, season four has already been commissioned.
