‘I’M TRAINING TO BE A PARAMEDIC’ can stop her, as Kay Ribeiro finds out

KATIE PRICE: When Katie Price is on a mission, no one

- I Got U is out now and Katie Price: My Crazy Life is on Quest Red, Mondays at 10pm

We’re in the heat Radio studio waiting for Katie Price to show up. She’s running 40 minutes late – she’s taken the train to avoid the traffic, but has had issues – and when she rocks up, she’s hyper. Katie’s here today to promote her new dance track – I Got U, written by former X Factor contestant Craig Colton – and despite the mixed reviews (people slated her Loose Women performance and said she was nervous, although she assures us she was just thrown by “earpiece problems”), she’s excited about promoting it. You see, Katie loves singing and doesn’t give a shit what people say about it. And, we have to admit, we admire her balls.

In the flesh, Katie is everything you’d hope for: flowing mane of glossy hair, huge false eyelashes, a deep golden tan (from the garden, we’re told) and ankle-breaking leopard-print boots. But what is surprising is how non-surgeryfied her face looks up close. Yes, her lips are pursed in a perpetual pout (and not just from the thick layer of gloss she’s got on), but the rest of her face looks normal – and pretty. Although, we still reckon she looks her best without all the slap, but we’ll come to that later.

Spending time with KP does not disappoint. She’s gobby, very entertaining and, above all, unflinchingly honest. So, everyone better watch out (we’re looking at you, Alex Reid). Plus, just when you think you know everything there is to know about the 39 year old, she throws in a curve ball about a potential new career. Model, singer, businesswoman, er, paramedic? Never. Underestimate. The Pricey.

Tell us about your new single, then…

I’m proud of it. I love it and I’m living my dream. You know me, I try my hand at anything, but my

‘I do not follow the Kardashians whatsoever’

real passion is music. I’m never going to be taken seriously, unfortunately, and I think it’s a shame with this track, because if anyone else sang it, it would’ve gone further.

So, is music your priority now?

No one believes me, but when I was younger, I always wanted to be a pop star or a model. So, I suppose I’ve lived my dreams. In my view, I’ve been a little pop star. OK, I haven’t been at Wembley or the O2, but singing is my thing. I don’t care what anyone says. Everyone is like, “Kate, just give up, you’re wasting your time.” But I’m like, “No, I’m not wasting my time, I’m living my dream.” I don’t care what anyone else says, I don’t want any regrets.

You’ve also got your new reality show, My Crazy Life. In the first episode, you’re in the studio recording a single with DJ Tom Zanetti, which Kieran can’t be happy about… [Kieran found texts Kate sent Tom last year, telling him she loved him and wanted his kids.]

Tom has properly let me down. You’ll see. They’ve had to edit it, but he looks bad whatever. Dickhead. It’s all about egos.

What happened? He seemed to love collaborating with you on the show…

He loved it all the way through. Put it this way, his excuse for not letting me have the track we recorded is absolutely pathetic: “Because it got in the media.” At the airport in Miami [where the song was recorded], people were asking questions about us and he said, “Oh, you set it up.” I’ve been in the industry for 23 years, what the f**k do I want to set up? He wouldn’t let me have the track he wrote for me, but then Craig saved the day with his. It’s such a shame.

It’s like Calvin Harris stopping Rita Ora from singing I Will Never Let You Down…

It’s very childish. People are going to hear it on the show, anyway. Everyone knows that I’ve recorded with him, everybody knows he loves the song, it just doesn’t make sense. But, in a way, it’s fate because I prefer the song I’ve done with Craig – it suits me.

You said you wanted to release a single before you turned 40 next year. What else is on your hit list?

Some more tracks. For the next one, I’m going to vocally challenge myself even more to show what I can do, and at Christmas, I’m thinking of bringing one out for charity. A ballad – I have to do a ballad! And I still want to do a film or a series [about her life].

Would you play yourself?

I wouldn’t want to be in it, because I can’t act. But I could be clever and do a little cameo.

Who would play Kieran?

Who would play Alex? W ho would play Pete?

Good point…

Antonio Banderas could play Pete. Rupaul could be Alex. [Laughs.] Kieran could be the stripper guy, what’s his name? Channing Tatum. They’ve sort of got the same eyes.

Talking of exes, you must’ve heard about Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna…

Do you know what, I do not follow the Kardashians whatsoever – I do not watch the programmes, I don’t know anything about them. What’s he done? [We give an in-depth summary of the situation including

those photos.] Oh my god, I’ll have to Google it in the car.

So, what’s your feeling about revenge porn?

Right, I’m glad you’ve asked me. When I’ve split up with exes, they’ve gone on a rampage, slagging me off. The only way I get retaliation is I do books, but I don’t slag them off, I tell the truth. Now, with Alex Reid, for example, the amount of stories he’s done on me, but he forgets what videos and pictures I have of him. All my friends have seen them, but not once have I ever put these videos out. One, it would disturb everyone to the grave, and number two, they’re not flattering, they’re disgusting. You look at them and you’re disgusted. So, it doesn’t matter what he does, I would never sell my soul and say, “Wow, do you want to see this, then?”

It would be pretty bad if you did…

I will never, over my dead body,

do it, because I wouldn’t stoop to that level. I can just say other things instead, but I always say the truth. And this is why I’ve never had a legal letter from any of them [her exes], even from my books, because they know it’s the truth. And I always back it up. Always remember that. You’ve got five kids – are any more on the cards? The more the merrier. Well, as many as my body can take, really. But not yet – I’ve got things coming up this year TV wise and there’s no way I could be pregnant to do it. And what about more surgery? [Smiles.] When I have surgery, I’ll let you know, because I do like to document it. When you look in the mirror... [Interrupting] People say I look so much better without any make-up. You do! This is the thing – magazines say I’m obsessed with surgery, they imply that I’m vain. When you watch the show, you will see that I’m not vain at all. My hair’s never done, I’ve never got make-up on, my clothes are never matched – I wear tracksuits, any old T-shirt. You’ve got to admit, when you watch it, it’s very normal. That’s true… So, that’s a f**k you, everyone! Why do you like to have surgery? Oh, because I can! [Laughs.] Because I’m mad and because I can. How do you feel about the way you look at the moment? I’m quite happy with what I see in the mirror. It’s just natural, yeah, which is good, because I haven’t got time to put make-up on. I have today, because I’m working, butf**kingh ell, I can’t wait to take it off.

You’re very open about Kieran’s cheating on the show. Will that always be your trump card?

Look, I’m a girl. Girls can find trump cards for anything. If the guy says, “You was home late,” it’s “Well, you was home late six months ago, so this is me home late!” But I can’t complain with Kieran, he does everything. He does the washing, the cooking, the cleaning, everything. We don’t argue, it’s just banter. So if the dog’s done a shit, he’ll be like, “It’s your dog, you clear it up.” I’m like, “Please, I can’t clear it up, it might get in my nails.” He’s like, “No, it’s your dog. You want that dog, you clear up the mess.” That’s the kind of thing we would argue about. And then I’ll start cleaning it and he’ll just go, “I’ll just do it.” Because he thinks I’m not doing it properly. And I’ve done it badly on purpose! [Laughs.] Do you think you’ll ever completely forgive him? I’ve always said I forgive and forget. We’ve been together nearly five years and he cheated in the first year. It’s been four years, but people think it was yesterday. I couldn’t give a shit about the f**king old friends. I actually couldn’t give a shit. It’s not even important.

At the end of your last autobiography, Katie

Price Reborn, you question whether you’ll be like Elizabeth Taylor and marry more men. Will you?

No, I don’t want to. But you never know. He might meet someone, or he might die, or I might die – you never know what’s going to happen. But, as it stands, I want to be with him for life.

So, you’d like to celebrate your golden anniversary? That’s 50 years…

Oh, I don’t know about that! I will be f**king 90! [Laughs.] But we are happy.

Finally, tell us one thing that would surprise us about you…

Here’s an exclusive for you – I’m training to be a paramedic. Yes, I am. It’s a five-year course and you can work and do it at the same time. I had started training to be a nurse when I left school and I love all that of kind stuff. I start the course soon.
