Harry to propose within a month?
And he may have already set a date…
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently celebrated their one-year anniversary, but royal sources tell heat that the couple are getting ready to pass another milestone: an engagement. “I’m told there will be a formal proposal, and it could be as soon as in the next month,” says our insider. “Harry won’t do it on Meghan’s birthday [4 August] or 31 August [the day Princess Diana died], but possibly in between. Harry will go down on bended knee, as is tradition, and I’m hearing that the ring is being made at Collins, the Queen’s jeweller in Tunbridge Wells.”
Which is all very exciting, as it means that the couple could be engaged as soon as next month. “Harry and Meghan’s wedding is very much talked about as if it appears to be happening,” says our source. “It seems to be a matter of when, not if they’ll tie the knot. Royal weddings aren’t like normal weddings: Harry will have to run the date past the palace. Everything needs to be planned way in advance – even before they publicly announce anything.”
The insider adds that Harry is keen to get married sooner rather than later, as his grandfather, Prince Philip, has been ill recently and Harry wants to make sure he’s well enough to attend. “Talk around the palace is that the wedding will happen next year – maybe early spring,” says the source. “The whole thing is very much an open secret.”
Sadly, we won’t get a day off for this royal wedding (like we did in 2011 when Kate Middleton and Prince William got married), but our insider says that, like his brother, Harry is keen to get married in Westminster Abbey. “In a way, he’d probably like to get married in Africa, under the night sky, but Harry knows that the world expects a big wedding in Westminster, and he’d like to share the day with ‘the people.”
Last week, Meghan returned to Canada, where her series Suits is filmed, after a ten-day trip to the UK to see Harry. It’s currently rumoured to be her last series before moving to London full time. Well, she’s got a wedding to plan…
